Hello everyone! I’m so happy to be back here at Ellie and Mac to write
another blog! It’s the first day of October and what else could I write
about other than Halloween!!! Today I will be writing about a special
Halloween costume I made for my baby girl, Aiyana. She is every bit a girl,
as a girl can be and this year she wanted to be Pinky Pie from My Little
Pony.
I will be using the Beatbox Romper and some fabric I got from Joanns to
complete this task. Very soft fabric and some dance pink for her hair. So,
for most of this I followed the instructions except for two things. On the
back, instead of cutting on the fold I cut two pieces and added 1/4" seam
allowance since I will need to stitch it back together. I then hand drew a
tail (which was horrible, LOL, but it worked) and cut it out with the fabric
for the tail. I did use a 1/4" seam allowance on that too, that is a
personal preference and works great for me. When adding the tail I measure
about 10’’ up from the bottom of the crotch and pin the tail between the
two back pieces. I use my 1/4" seam allowance here and now I have a back
piece just as wide as the original design, except with a tall. I did zigzag
on top of the tail to help it from pulling.
After that I moved on to the hood. I did not line my hood and I also did
put a band on it. I cut out two square to make hair for her. I tried to
draw it but it was a HUGE disaster! LOL. So I went with just cutting
straight lines. I attached the dark pink squares to the right side of
the hood down the center. I did this because these fabrics are horrible to
work, with and it just made it easier for me. Once I attached the dark pink,
I attached the two hood pieces and then cut the dark pink into 1"
slices. I also made my slices cross over so that they laid around the head
instead of going to the back.
Then I followed the instructions to put the romper together. Of course it
wouldn’t be a My Little Pony costume without the cutie mark! I used my
Circut Maker to vinyl the balloons for her cutie mark. I hope you guys
enjoyed my blog post! My daughter is in love with her costume and I'm sure
she will wear it all year long, LOL. Until next time :)
