The Be Rad Hoodie PDF sewing pattern was born from my cool little man who loves wearing things I make him....even if it has been washed a million times and sometimes even when it is still wet from hanging to dry! I definitely want others to have the same adorable problem, so I made this pattern with a few options. Inside pockets for one. Pockets are a kid's best friend! They can stuff those things full of their treasures and feel so proud as they tote them around! Definitely, a must-have option in my opinion. You can add just one if you like or even leave them off completely. They are super easy to sew in, so don't let them scare you. Then I wanted to add thumb cuffs as an option along with the regular sleeve cuffs so that those who love longer cuffs and sporting their little thumbs through those tiny wholes get to enjoy this option also! This hoodie is great not only for cool little boys but also for sweet girls who love being comfy as well! Let your little ones BE RAD, with this fun hoodie. I hope you love it!

I Love the patern! Very easy to work with. I have may 4 shirts from this pattern so far. Almost the whole shirt can be done on a serger which I love!
Made a bit of a mistake probably one of the worst hoodies I have made so far but my son is very happy with it.
I made a size five and three, they fit both grandchildren well. I'm not sure that I liked the shape of the hood. The kids didn't mind it at all and it stayed up, but it's very shallow and doesn't have depth to sit to the front of their face. Think I will adjust the hoodie next time but would definitely recommend as it's an easy sew. Oh yes I didn't make it with the pockets this time, but might do so in the future.

My first hoodie sew for my grandson scaled down the hood a bit and added neck ribbing & kangaroo pocket my additions not on pattern an easy make love Ellie & MAC patterns great prices too many more makes for sure.
This was one of my first Ellie and Mac patterns and I was not disappointed! Instructions are so easy to follow and it’s a quick sew. Fabric combinations are endless. I Highly recommend this hoodie.
My first try at an Ellie and Mac pattern and my first proper sew up with knit fabric and my serger. It was so easy and great instructions. Perfect for a beginner. Ended up making a few more and even tried the smallest size . The ribbing on the cuffs was a bit trick ,only because of the size but I did it and love this pattern so much.....so do my grand kids.
Love this pattern! My kiddos love it too. It’s such a fast and easy sew and the instructions are perfect, fit is perfect. The thumb hole cuffs make it extra special because my kids can’t live without that, and also the pockets. Thank you for awesome patterns!
I have made 2 of these in 3T for my 2.5 year old. One in french terry and another with DBP and cotton spandex. He loves having pockets! I like the multiple options - his crew neck and hooded versions look totally different.
I made the Be Rad hoodie in size 5 and 10 for my boys! They love it! I added a self-drafted pocket on the front for all the rocks, acorns, Hotwheels cars, etc. my kids like to carry around.

I’ve sewn for over
4 decades but not knits, not garments. I just started using a serger and a projector this spring, so I was a bit intimidated by hoodies.
But it was super easy to follow, and it went together perfectly in a couple of hours.
I love that Ellie and Mac have videos to follow because sometimes it’s easier to understand by seeing than by reading. It’s also incredibly helpful that so much information is given in the listing - I appreciate knowing what formats the files come in, fabric types to use, yardage requirements... all of that really helps!
This is our favorite hoodie. Don’t care for the inseam pockets but I just grabbed a kangaroo off a different pattern when I want a pocket. I really hope this gets updated soon to go up to a 18 kids because mine are growing out of the size 10

I made two of these for my son and his best buddy and overall it was a fairly simple pattern to put together. I ended up having to recut the neckband though as even at max stretch it wouldn't go all the way around.
