Zip It Jacket Sewing Pattern (Straight Fit)

Loved making this jacket. Even though I've sewn for many years I haven't done a jacket. Well I jumped into the deep end and made my son one. He's 6ft 7inches and broad so I made the 4XL one and it came out as if it was shop brought,it fitted him to a tee. I was so pleased. The instructions were perfect! My definitely go to pattern next time. 🙂

I used this pattern to make matching his and hers hoodies out of vintage wool blankets for my neighbors. I sized up because the wool has no stretch, and they fit perfect. I love how these patterns are so easy to work with and the fit is always bang on.

I made this jacket for my husband for his birthday and he wears it all the time. I changed a few things because my fabric was more like a jacket fabric than a hoodie fabric, but it turned out great!

Good pattern easy to follow

This was a hoodie I made for a friend for Christmas. I used organic sweatshirt fabric and made it longer because he is 6' 3". It fitted perfectly and was so easy to make. The whole thing, including sleeve length and hood is perfect. Great pattern and easy instructions with loads of clear pictures. Have already recommended to a friend to make.

I recently made this for my son. I made it unlined so I had to figure that out. But the pattern was good overall. Only negative is placement of pockets my son said they’re a bit far back as they’re in the side seam.

As with the other Ellie and Mac patterns I've used, this was a nice easy to follow pattern. I omitted the pockets and lining (except for the hood).

I made a jacket for my husband and he wears it daily. My son saw it and wanted one for himself. The XS worked just fine. A quick and easy sew!

This is an excellent pattern with clear directions and great results!! I especially loved the hint of using wash away wonder tape for the zipper. It was my first time doing a long zipper on stretch fabric without any puckering.

I've never made a lined jacket before but it wasn't too difficult. I decided to make the jacket in fleece which had no stretch so I went up two sizes. Because fleece can be problematic if the person is wearing a corduroy shirt, I didn't line the sleeves, thinking the extra room would help. Turns out that I didn't need to go up that much but this way the wearer can wear a sweater or heavier layer underneath. They really like it. I bought a lace for the hood instead of making one.

It went smoothly except for the zipper that I had to redo but it’s mostly my fault, not the pattern. When I buy an E&M pattern I know I will have clear instructions and support from the FB community. At the end my husband loved the sweater and he wears it all the time

Great pattern. At last I have been able to sew something that he really likes. The pieces all go together well. There were no problems with the sewing. That is until I twisted the sleeve lining so that you couldn’t get your arm in it. This was entirely my fault and rather funny, but easily fixed.

The pattern and instructions were so clear to follow and the sew along video was a great help. I'll be making more of this one, it turned out great😁

I love this pattern. I have made one for hubs and for our son and also the curvy fit version for myself and the kids version for my grand daughter. The pattern is lined. I used warm fabric for outer layer and for lining. It is comfortable warm and cozy. The instructions are good and the fit is true. I'm planning to make another one tomorrow.

I fairly new at sewing clothes and this was my first zip up hoodie, or any clothing with a zipper. The instructions were straight forward and easy to follow. I see many more of these in my future!

I have made this in polar fleece for my husband and it was a super easy sew pattern!

Perfect fitting!

I made the jacket for my son. He likes it very much. It's a warm vest. I think the cap is too big.

My first mens make went like a dream.
Decided to make it from fleece that I had in my stash. It was a whiz to sew on my new machine and it went together like a a dream. Fits my husband really well, he hasn't taken it off yet since I made it 💁‍♀️ must wash it soon 🤦‍♀️
Would definitely recommend.
