Hi sewing friends!
I am Reginala from www.instagram.com/curlysewingbossmom. I am currently 27 weeks pregnant. I love to use the patterns from Ellie and Mac for myself and other family members. But today I am going to share about the True Beauty Dress pattern hack I did. I have already sewn the pattern True beauty dress 4 times. I will add on the end of this blog 4 pictures from it.
I had this idea from the pattern, and that was that I only have to use the top and the sleeves from the pattern. I've sewn 4 dresses already and number 5 I've sewn specially for this blog. This pattern is super easy to make because you only have two pattern parts: Top and sleeves. And because I am pregnant I love easy sewing patterns without too many pattern parts etc..
Supplies
1 Pattern True Beauty Dress (We only use the Top and sleeves)
2. Paper
3. Scissors
4. Measuring tape
5. Ruller
6. Pen/pencil
7. Knit fabric
8. Elastic
9. Sewing machine (or serger)
Make sure you have the pattern Top and sleeve in your size. Cut a piece of paper.
Put the top on the paper and draw a straight line from the bottom of the top down. Use the ruler to make a straight line. I draw the line in total of 75cm. In total the dress will be about 90cm - 1m depends on what you want. Because I am pregnant and have a growing belly I did about 100cm.
This is how the pattern should look.
Put the pattern piece on your fabric. Cut 2 pieces for the front and the back of the dress and 2 sleeve pieces. I have added 1 cm seam allowance.
You have now 4 patterns pieces. I've first ironed the pattern pieces and after that I have put them together with a serger and sewing machine. You can follow the directions from True Beauty Dress Pattern.
The dress is now ready. Before I finished the dress I cut a little piece off.
I hope you sewists like this hack! And there also will be a video of this hack on youtube.
