Hello dears sewists, I’m happy to share with you today my new phone case exclusive pattern for the Ellie and Mac community.
Let’s go!
It’s easy and quick to sew.
Sewing Level: Intermediate
MATERIAL:
-
woven fabric dark color (large front and back pieces)
-
Mesh fabric (small back piece)
-
cotton fabric for the inner pieces
-
piece of false leather fabric (small front piece)
-
12 cm zipper x1
-
140 cm of paracord thread for the handle
-
5 mm eyelets x2
-
paper to trace the pattern
-
about 1 meter of serge cotton ribbon 2 cm large
Instructions:
First of all, trace the pattern as shown in the following pictures. The seam allowance is drawn in dotted line.
I used squared paper to make it easy.
Once done, trace on pattern paper, then on the fabric.
Cut 2 large pieces on the main fabric, one for the front and one for the back (solid black woven fabric).
Then cut 2 large pieces for the inner parts (front and back).
Now cut 1 small piece for the front (false leather) and 1 small piece for the back (mesh).
Measure the serge cotton ribbon and cut 2 pieces as long as the top of each small part.
With iron, fold in the middle the serge cotton ribbon.
Position it on the top of each small piece, pin or clip, then sew.
Now, take the large piece you’ll use as back, transfer the round marks on the top, and put the eyelets in place.
It’s time to assemble the 2 front pieces together and the 2 back pieces together too.
Position the small front wrong side on the large front right side, matching the bottom and the sides, pin or clip all around, and baste.
Repeat the process for the back.
Now, mark the middle and the sewing allowance on the wrong side of the inner parts, to make it easy to position.
We’ll sew the zipper.
Put the front main piece right side UP, place the zipper on, right side together, then place the inner piece right side DOWN. The zipper is between the outer and the inner as a sandwich.
Pin or clip, pay attention to take the 3, then sew. You can, if you prefer, first sew the zipper on the outer, then pin the inner on and sew again.
When it’s done, turn, and top stitch close to the zipper edge.
Repeat the process to sew the back outer and inner to the zipper other edge.
First, put the front right side UP, take the back front right side together, match the edge of the zipper with, again the zipper will be between the outer and the inner pieces.
Note that the right side of the inner back and one of the front will face together.
Pin or clip, then sew.
Once it’s done, turn it right side out, and top stitch close to the edge as on the other side.
Cut the handle now 140 cm length, i use a paracord thread because it’s not stretched at all.
You can use lace too if you prefer, but choose something resistant.
Place the paracord through the eyelets, pin each edge on one side between the inner and outer parts, keep continue to pin all around, then sew together inner and outer back pieces.
The paracord is sewn with the sides to stay in place.
Repeat the process to sew the front parts inner and outer.
Fold the front to the back right sides together.
Pin or clip the serge cotton ribbon on 1 side, don’t forget to fold 1 cm as hem on it, close to the zipper, sew, and cut.
-
OPEN THE ZIPPER -
-
Put the paracord outside to avoid to sew it accidentally inside -
Repeat the process on the opposite side.
Then do the same on the bottom part, there is a 1 cm fold as hem on each side.
Now, you can turn it right side out, it’s done !!!
